My favorite part of the haunted mansion is actually the hallway of doors. I just feel like it's so interesting wondering WHAT causes all those different reactions. Fires up the imagination. Mint Julep!

Thank you for giving your thoughts on the Hatbox Ghost a very interesting rant. I do agree he is a bit out of place being in the endless hallway scene I feel that it could be a mix of lighting and overall atmosphere that just does not make it look right and I agree that he should be placed in a darker atmosphere like in the attic. The neon look of the hatbox ghost sort of distracts the dark and eerie feel of the hallway. I also feel that he should be in the attic only because his original story plot is tied to the bride in the attic. However and this is just my opinion and my idea on what they should have done, having complete understanding for Disney’s reason to put him in the endless hallway is because of the new movie we see Alistair Crump chasing Ben down the hallway and since the haunted mansion looks very similar to crump manor in the movie they could have been a little more creative and maybe made an animated hologram of the hatbox ghost’s distorted or abstract apparition/ silhouette not yet materialized unlike his detailed animatronic chasing us the audience down the hallway maybe telling us to get out of his home informing the audience that he is the original owner of the mansion that we are not welcome while still proceeding anyway kind of like a warning to us to turn around and go back , while still keeping the atmosphere of the hallway unchanged and adding an extra scary touch. And move the animatronic hatbox ghost in the attic where he belongs. Would have given an excuse to have the hatbox ghost appear twice in the ride while staying true to the original story keeping fans happy and adding uniqueness to the ride. And maybe adding Jared Leto’s dialogue in process. Like when he say I hope you like surprises I hope you do too would have been cool. In my opinion other than that love both versions of the ride.

These changes make my "Anger" emotion rise up and, well you know... but, I'll keep it PG. "Congratulations Imagineers, you ruined Epcot!" Just kidding. But, not really. We used to go 3-4 times a year, not anymore. We've started spending our money elsewhere on cruises and all-inclusive resorts, and will probably only see WDW once a year now, if that.

The problem with blaming so much of the recent perceived failures at EPCOT on COVID is that falls apart when you look at Universal and not only Velocicoaster & Hagrid's, but everything we are seeing going up in Epic Universe. They didn't cheap out and put up shells of what was promised, no reason Disney should have.

I can say for Disney Land Paris, that the Molly Brown steam boat, is a fun ride around the rivers. It's also totally unique, after all you have Phantom Manour on the banks, Big Thunder, the only version of the ride as an island in all the disney parks in the middle. I admit it takes a bit to get use to duel narration (French and English) one after the other but you get there.

Change is embedded in the name of the park (and Walt Disney's intentions) itself. Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow. If it isn't changing constantly to forge ahead into the future and inspire new generations, then what is it? Keep visiting the park and collect new memories with all the new things to experience to add to the old memories. Only avoid the creepy guy selling pins and merch under the ball.

My biggest issue with modern Epcot is how it long strayed from the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow and turned into Food, Wine and Lack of Ambition.

90s Disneyland was its pinnacle (and I would argue the 90s was the Disney company's pinnacle overall). Starcade, Peoplemover, Skyway (until late '94 anyway), original Star Tours,Tom Sawyer's Island with Injun Joe's Cave & Fort Wilderness, the burning cabin, the original Electrical Parade, Splash Mountain was still new, maintenance and overall park cleanliness still top notch, far more affordable to visit, and the style of the Disneyland Hotel and its marina were so much more enjoyable; not to mention the Dancing Waters shows and the koi ponds.

My kid could make a more inspired Communicore hall design in blendr. Even when the budget gets cut can’t you make a better effort than this?

We dont even know what the floating building was supposed to be. It was a building with even more plants on the roof. I dont think communicore hall is good either, but its hard to judge something that could have been similar, just higher up in the air.

We can thank "Cheap Peck" for taking money away from this project and threw it to Disney+

Meanwhile Universal built an entire park

I'm a big fan of Disneyworld and am slowly accepting the changes. However, we don't need to defend this. This is corporate retheming, rather than artists with passion working for a corporation doing a retheme. You can't honestly say this construction is good when comparing it to Pirates, or Spaceship Earth, or even the queue for JiyI - this is just shopping mall with people tryna defend it. Dont defend it. This isn't the Disney people that made the Disneyworld we love.

They really made a mistake opening it without a festival going on. They should have just taken down the walls so you could see the outside but build up anticipation for the first festival. I really hope there's more festival stuff centrally located. Theres lots of room to sit and eat in Epcot central now so you dont have to eat on top of the trash cans. I do wish they would have kept the fountain. The fountain was central to Epcot when it opened with waters from all over the world being added. They really missed an opportunity to update it and have a grand re-opening with waters from everywhere being added again.

Always salty we don't get NBC overlay in WDW.

Dallin, I appreciate that you have a positive outlook on Disney. In some ways, I even admire it. The fact is, the company is bleeding money and they're taking it out on the guests to their parks. That's why everything is half-effort and bland. The Disney execs are fat, bloated and arrogant and think that they can build a doctor's office waiting room and people will flock to it. Disney is on the downslope, and it probably won't get any better for at least another 5 years.

Could you imagine if you bought DVC even only five years ago on the hook for the next 50 years waiting for them to get sued into oblivion?

The most disappointing things about Communicore Hall is not what it is - as you pointed out, it is objectively better than what was there before it - but rather what it could have been. It's prime real estate, plus all the time and money poured into it... we could have had a second Moana, but instead we just got a better version of what was already there, which isn't a high bar.
